TRACK 1 - ANOTHER PROBLEM AHEAD
This track talks about how in our lives we are constantly jumping from one problem to the next. We do this so quickly that our bodies cannot keep up and our minds take control. Reason reigns supreme and, as our bodies hold back, a “reasonable purpose” is manufactured in order to justify our drive forwards. Since society also supports this behaviour, we tend to conform so we do not get sidelined and end up alone. Once our minds are fully in charge we lose the ability to feel our purpose, which eventually gets lost, stuck in a body that cannot naturally compete with this rhythm. Without our natural purpose we lose our freedom, and without freedom... what is the point of it all?

TRACK 2- ENRAGED SPLITTING MACHINES
Continuing on the same thread, the topic here is the tools we make use of day-in-day-out to deal with the insane rhythms of our lifestyles. The flow of our being tends to adapt itself to our lives and we become addicted to whatever keeps is “on the spot”. The abilities we gain from these cold, unfeeling mind-extensions (machines) are strictly linked to our “reasonable purpose”, the one we make up so we can fit neatly into society, and completes the illusion that reality is whatever our minds think it is.

TRACK 3 - WE USED TO SING
The ancient ethnic group of the Aka Pygmies have been singing since their emergence 70,000 years ago, and their act of music-making perfectly mirrors their society. One can hear in their singing, the space they give each other and the deep listening that constantly links them all together. Their society, much like their music, is not dependent on their rational-thinking, even if it is full of improvisation. Men and women are equals in most roles and the family holds little more than an emotional value. Anthropologists confirm that the music from these tribes is one of the most ancient examples of music in the history of humanity. We were all born singing, and it is not strange to think that through music we can more appropriately frame the accomplishments of our reason while bringing more consciousness back into our physical bodies.

Antares Flare Rotterdam, Netherlands

Antares Flare, is a sextet based in the Netherlands. Their music is characterised by a groovy, afrobeat layer topped with soulful improvisation with horns (think Kokoroko with Christian Scott and BADBADNOTGOOD), combined with edgy electronic effects. Antares Flare offers a musical journey through the Congo rainforest, South-American magic realism and the psychedelic European realm of the 60’s. ... more
